Horror Cocktails
Below are the cocktails we have paired with each movie. Along with the picture of each cocktail, we have included the website/source where we found the cocktail and if we liked it or not. If you click the link, a new window will open with the cocktail recipe.
Zelda
Paired with the OG Pet Sematary. This was another drink that was absolutely fantastic. We didn't think the orgeat syrup and mint would mesh well, but we were completely wrong. We liked this drink so much, we had three instead of our customary two. Make. This. Drink.
Candy Man
Paired with 2021 Candyman. This drink was a winner! We both loved it. The flavors complimented each other in such a way, and it was relatively easy to make. Very reminiscent of a Suffering Bastard (another great podcast drink—check out Maggie's Plan in the rom-com section). It's easy enough to find a small bottle of vanilla syrup in the coffee section of Walmart. Highly recommend!
Bees Knees
Paired with the OG Candyman. This is a classic cocktail that is on many restaurant menus. It does take a bit of extra prep because you have to make the honey syrup, but it's not complicated and is quite quick. One of us really liked the drink and the other one thought it was just okay.
Camp Crystal Lake
Paired with Friday the 13th, Part 2. This drink wasn't bad (and it maintained its flavor after being stored in the fridge for a week, so that's saying something for it). Neither alcohol overpowers the other, and the blueberry lemonade makes it sweet. If you want your drinks to taste like candy, this one's for you.
Allison's Own Creation
Paired with Friday the 13th. This drink brings a smoky element to the table, making it reminiscent of a campfire. Add in the tart lemon and blackberries and the sweet honey syrup, and you have a well-balanced drink perfect for fall evenings! Two of these drinks were not a hardship (a couple of us may have had three of them)!
Recipe:
Muddle 5 to 8 blackberries in your shaker.
1 oz honey syrup
2 oz bourbon
1/2 oz lemon juice
Shake

Aussie Jawsie
Paired with Jaws. This drink is all about the experience. The only thing is that you need to get things ready in advance because you need shark finger puppets for this drink. That way, you'll be able to pour out red grenadine into the blue drink so it looks like blood in the water. Very cool! This drink came from a Reddit thread (linked below), as it's a take on Outback's drink. Even if the sound of it doesn't strike your fancy, it's too fun not to do!
A Quiet Cocktail
Paired with A Quiet Place. We found this drink to have a weird aftertaste. Having said that, neither of us enjoy vermouth. If you are a vermouth drinker, you'll probably love this drink. Be forewarned: This drink is ALL booze!
High Five
Paired with Studio 666. This is a light and refreshing drink. There is a slight bitter taste due to the aperol, which is great for hot days. Two of the three on the podcast really enjoyed this drink, and the other was just okay with it. Make sure it's cold!
Cocktail that shall not be named.
Paired with Sleepaway Camp. If you want to have a drink, but you don't want to taste alcohol, this drink is for you. There are a lot of different fruit flavors happening in this drink, which means it masks the base liquor (vodka). Having said that, it's a heavy hitter with 3 oz of liquor per drink. We recommend not using peche (ever) and going for regular peach schnapps.
Machete
Paired with Green Room. This drink is super-simple and super-light. There are no strong flavors, which makes it somewhat refreshing. There are minimal ingredients, so if you're running low on bar stock, check this drink out!
Shirley Temple
Paired with Scream. We started out basic with this drink: sprite or ginger ale with grenadine. However, we did make it a Dirty Shirley later by adding vodka. It's a super-simple delicious drink! There is no link to the recipe, just base your proportions on your taste preferences.
Dead Weight
Paired with Bodies Bodies Bodies. Even though this is a rum-based drink, the rum does not come through a lot. The predominant tastes are ginger beer and then the lime and Angostura bitters compliment each other. We recommend this drink for taste and looking cool!
Vodka Blush Light
Paired with Rosemary's Baby. This was our take on a drink mentioned in the movie. We didn't feel like having five total ounces of vodka in less than two hours, so we kept the same amount of liquor and added other ingredients. Our recipe: Shake 2 1/2 oz vodka, 3/4 oz lime juice, 1 oz cranberry, and a dash of grenadine. Pour into a glass and fill to the top with prosecco. It is a tart drink, but make sure you choose a prosecco you know you enjoy.
Pearl's Passion
Paired with X. This is a good drink. The bitters can be a bit strong; however, leaving them out makes the taste very vodka-heavy. It's a tart drink and very heavy. It's 3.5 shots per drink, so make sure you're staying in for the night when you're trying this bad boy!
The Spruce Eats took down their page with the recipe, so here goes:
1 1/2 oz light rum
1 1/2 oz passion fruit vodka
1/2 oz cointreau
1/2 oz lemon juice
2 dashes aromatic bitters

Molotov Cocktail
Paired with Night of the Living Dead. Boy howdy, is this a strong drink. If you want something that tastes good and will get you drunk fast, this will do the job. It's extremely strong and goes down easy! (That's what she said.)
Harry's cocktail
Paired with All My Friends Hate Me. This drink is not as bad as the movie, but it's close. It didn't make us nauseous, and that's as much praise as we can give it. It smells like medicine and fake oranges. The taste is no better. The vermouth and orange bitters combine to make an extremely bitter drink—a too-bitter drink.
Tamara's Tipple
Paired with The Strangers. This drink starts off strung and then devolves. The creme de cacao ends up sinking to the bottom, so if you aren't constantly stirring your drink, the last two drinks are all the creme de cacao (AKA, not pleasant). We liked this drink when we started it, so if you want to give it a shot, go for it. Just remember to continuously stir your drink!
Mint Cooler
Paired with The Black Phone. This drink is absolutely delightful, and we can't recommend it enough. This drink is refreshing and flavorful—perfect for summer. The mint leaves and lemon slice give it a chill vibe, and it's pretty to look at.
Peachfuzz Cocktail
Paired with Creep. This is a light drink that we would recommend in summer. Actually, only one of us would recommend it. Allison used La Peche, which she did not like. Marie used regular peach schnapps and liked this drink, so we recommend peach schnapps. There are many different peach fuzz recipes out there, so be sure to use the link below!
Koi Martini
Paired with The Gift. Do not drink this drink. The combination of liquors is foul. It is disgusting. We have not had two drinks of three cocktails over the course of 161 movies, and this is one of them.
My Bloody Valentine
Paired with My Bloody Valentine. This drink got mixed reviews: One of us liked it, and one of us was just okay with it. It can be difficult to find blood oranges and blood orange juice, so Allison used San Pellegrino Blood Orange Seltzer from Trader Joe's, and Marie used Polar Blood Orange and Lemon seltzer water. It was a fine drink, but not something we'd go out of our to way to make again.
White Rabbit
Paired with Us. This is a light drink made for hot sunny days. The drink tastes like lemonade, so if that's your jam, this drink is for you. We found it kind of blah, but perhaps with some mint and lemon slices, it could be jazzed up.
Child's Play
Paired with Child's Play. This drink is a trip. Who would have thought that putting a packet of Kool-Aid into a beer is a good idea? But, guess what? it's not. This drink didn't do anything favors to the beer or the Kool-Aid, even though the red in a light colored beer looked cool. You can give this recipe a pass.
Mac Attack
Paired with Black Christmas. This drink is in honor of our MVP: Ms. Mac and, much like her, may have been the MVP of the podcast. This drink is very good. We did not have apple spiced rum, so we stuck with regular spiced rum, and we don't think the drink suffered for it. We highly recommend this drink!
Blizzard
Paired with The Lodge. This drink is an absolute delight. We made a slight change to the recipe (we used regular cranberry juice cocktail instead of unsweetened cranberry juice). Allison thought that there was a bit too much simple syrup, but Marie found it to cut the strong taste of the bourbon. Highly recommend.
